2011 - Calendar

A calendar for 2012 has been created, by John Burn.
All details are in the image opposite (please click inside
the image to bring up a larger version).

2011 - DVD

A new DVD has been created, by Dave Arnott, featuring
mostly unseen photographs from the late Jim Normington’s
vast collection of photographs. Jim has provided top quality
photographs to the Friends for many years and we are
fortunate to retain his collection, courtesy of Jim’s wife, Karla.
Introduced at the AGM, it is on sale from the Information Centre
and it is a fitting tribute to Jim - £8 each or 2 for £13.

2011 - December - Cedar Lawn Ericaceous Rock Garden

The replanting of the Rock Garden has started.
This garden can be found on the.cafe/dog (east)
side of the park. Photo by John Burn.

2011 - November - Waterfall bridge

This bridge has recently been inspected and found to be in need of repair. More information can be found in the AGM 2011 minutes.

AGM 2011

This event was well attended and there has been a change of committee members. Preliminary details can be viewed on the AGM 2011 page here.

2011 - July:  Aviary toilets

These are the toilets just inside the Manor Road
entrance. Bromley Council, as part of the
government spending cuts, have decided to
close these toilets, the justification being that
there are already a set of toilets by the cafe,
and another just outside the park past the
north gate. A letter from the committee can
be viewed or downloaded here.

2011 - March:  Drainage Work

The drainage problems on both sides of the lower lake have now been alleviated by the installation of new pipes, drains and guttering channels, and also the clearing and unblocking of old pipes.

2011 - March:  Cedar Lawn Ericaceous Rockery

Towards the back of Cedar lawn, behind the hybrid Strawberry tree and the huge Bhutan pine, major reconstruction work has been taking place. The large existing Westmoreland stones have been moved and repositioned to form a new rockery, which will soon be planted with a selection of heathers, small conifers and other ericaceous plants.

2010 - November:  Flora

About 2,500 bulbs have been planted in the several weeks of November 2010.

AGM 2010

This event was well attended and presented for the first time by the new chair, Liz Anderson; preliminary details can be viewed on the AGM 2010 page here.

2011 - Summer:  Junior Art competitions

Both the Junior Art and Junior Photographic competitions have been judged and the winners can be seen here: Art, and Photographic.

2010 - April:  Café

After much delay the newly rebuilt cafe finally opened, during Easter, early April 2010, replacing the mobile units, both adjacent to the playground.

2008 - February:  Muscovy Ducks

Four ducks introduced by London Wildcare in the first week of February 2008, grey white in colour with reddish faces and beaks.

2008 - March:  Heron Chicks

The first of the year are hatching, early March. In 2008 one of the early nests was used by late breeders; (article in Spring 2008 Newsletter).

2008 - English Landscapes

Workers have made a good start after having been awarded the 10 year contract. The rhododendron area to the north has been completely cleared and replanted. There is an in-depth illustrated article in an edition of the newsletter, Spring 2009 (cost £1 - free to members).
