About The Friends
The Friends of Kelsey Park have designed this web site to introduce you to the Park and tell you about the work of the Friends.
The Friends work in partnership with the London Borough of Bromley and English Landscapes, with their sub contractors Holwood, to:
Information Centre
The Friends Information Centre is open 2.00 pm -
The Centre can best be found from the Manor Way (private vehicle) entrance, which has a large red post box just outside it. Continue the short walk and then take the left fork, past the WC’s and flower beds; it is just on the left of the path set back by the birch trees. It is also labelled on the large map at the bottom of the ‘Location’ page.
Friends
The Friends is a flourishing organisation and produces a magazine three times a year free with membership or on sale in the Information Centre, currently £1. The Friends also work with Hadlow College. Their BSc students use the park as a learning resource. If anyone is interested in forging a relationship with a local primary school please contact us.
The Friends are concerned that the original planting scheme for the park was being
lost and have linked with the Bromley Local Authority to try to publicise their plant-
Recently The Friends have held plant sales selling the surplus bedding from the park. The money raised will be used to buy new shrubs and trees. The stand of birch trees should be restored soon.
The Friends also take part in the national competitions which Bromley Borough enters; e.g. The Green Flag Award, which the park holds for 2005 and also 'London and Britain in Bloom'.
The Friends also contribute to the events held for the friends of parks groups organised by Bromley Local Authority and The Greater London Authority.
We hope after visiting the park you will want to become a member and possibly think about volunteering. Please see the membership page for more details.
